investigation of child sexual and physical abuse. The center houses more than 60
full-time professionals in the areas of law enforcement, child protective

This office administers three group homes in
residential neighborhoods which provide an intensive level of therapeutic
services in a less restrictive setting than the Village of Childhelp
West (a residential treatment facility). The group homes serve as a
transition from the larger, more structured setting of the Childhelp USA village
to foster, adoptive, or relatives' homes. The group homes provide a safe and
secure place where the children can remain together during their time of crisis.
There are two long-term group homes for children ages six to 12 (one for boys
and one for girls). In addition, Childhelp USA has a transitional shelter home
for sibling sets.

The Children's Advocacy Center of Manhattan is a
child-friendly, free clinic offering medical and psychological assessment and
therapy to abuse victims and their families. By cooperating with New York's
social services and law enforcement agencies, the center helps investigations
and prosecutions proceed more effectively, with less trauma to children. Child
interview rooms are equipped with one-way mirrors and recording equipment so
that all members of a multidisciplinary child protection team can observe a
single, unified interview process, avoiding the need for each member of the team
to repeatedly question and therefore re-traumatize the child victim. The
Children's Advocacy Center of Manhattan also sponsors training programs for
doctors, lawyers, police officers and social workers; public awareness
campaigns; and abuse prevention programs.

This two-story facility houses the administrative staff who oversee Childhelp
USA programs in Virginia and New York, as well as the advocacy center which
opened in June 2002. The Childhelp USA Children's Center of Virginia (CCCV)

CCCV is also home to ten social workers from Farifax County Child Protective
Services, seven child services detectives from Fairfax County Police, two
therapists from County mental health services and a child abuse medical expert.
The staff train abuse prevention instructors; provide body safety education
free of charge to elementary school students in Virginia, Maryland and
Washington, D.C.; provide abuse awareness education for teens, parents and
concerned citizens; and train adults who work with children how to recognize and
interrupt an abuse situation. This office also coordinates fund-raising
